HOW HPHS USES YOUR GENEROUS DONATIONS

High Plains Humane Society thanks you for your kindness. Without your generous donations, we wouldn’t be successful in our endeavors.

Because of the generosity of our community and state, we’ve successfully spayed and neutered thousands of animals since 2010. This has reduced the pet population in our area by hundreds of thousands.

SPAY/NEUTER CLINICS

Our low-cost spay & neuter clinics have been successful in assisting pet owners, who would not otherwise be able to afford this service. These clinics are essential in addressing the overpopulation crisis in our community. Therefore, we use our donations to purchase necessary medical supplies, etc. for these clinics.

VACCINATION EVENTS

There are very contagious diseases that spread through animals. Veterinarians warn against parvo and distemper in dogs. The New Mexico Statutes and Regulations on Animal Control requires rabies vaccination of all cats and dogs. Because of this, we work to provide low-cost vaccination events for pet owners.

PET FOOD PANTRY

High Plains Humane Society maintains a pet food pantry through donations (product and monetary) from our community. This food is available for emergency situations. We allow pet owners who are in crisis to take food home to their animals. We never want our furry friends to go hungry.

PUBLIC EDUCATION

HPHS focuses solely on the overpopulation crisis in our community. We are heartbroken over the euthanasia numbers from our local shelters. These numbers are a direct result of animals not being sterilized. We believe educating the public on the importance of sterilizing and vaccinating their animals is vital to the success of our programs.
